2005 Pony League Rules

  • All games will start on promptly at game time.

  • A complete game will be 7 innings or 2 hours.  No new innings will be started after 2 hours.

  • Once an inning has started and the time limit expires, it will be completed until a winner has been determined.

  • If a game is tied at the end of 8 innings, the tie will stand and the game is over.
  • The HOME team will occupy the FIRST base dugout.  If you are in the wrong dugout you will be asked to move.

  • Teams will designate someone on each team to retrieve foul balls.  This means two people will be shagging each foul ball.

  • If any coach or acting coach is ejected for any reason, he/she will be suspended for the next 3 games.

  • A pitcher may not pitch more than 7 innings per game and not more than 10 innings per calendar week.

  • 15-year-old pitchers or any combination of 15-year-old pitchers may not pitch more than 3 innings per game.

  • No 15-year-old may pitch more than 5 innings per calendar week.

  • The home team will appoint someone to keep the scoreboard and will be responsible for set up and returning the table and score’s box to the equipment room.

  • Balks will be called at the discretion of the umpires. There will be one warning per pitcher per game on balks. The warning will be treated as a delayed dead ball and no runner shall be put out as a result of the balk. If a play results the offended team may choose the results of the play.

  • Major league rules apply with the exceptions of the Pony Rule Book and local rules.
  • The malicious contact rule is in effect at all bases. Offenders shall be called out and ejected.

  • Infield practice before games will end at 5 minutes until game time. Visiting team shall take infield practice first. Teams shall split time equally for infield practice.

  • In case of inclement weather, DO NOT ASSUME your game has been cancelled. Call the game cancellation line at 676-3284 and check for your game. This line will be updated until 5 p.m. on bad weather days, so keep checking until you find out if you have been cancelled.
